You are not wasting your time in the code breaking guide. The ‘tips’ page suggests a transposition cipher, these are discussed starting on page 19 of the code breaking guide.
You learn so much from the guide! (I think I can put this here since it’s mentioned in tips): without the guide I would never have known it was a transposition cipher! however, knowing the guide, I ran 2/3 checks, determined the language and type of cipher! Bless that guide omg
